Privacy & Cookie Policy

Last updated: 12 June 2026 · Applies to the Chairman FC web game at chairmanfc.com.

The short version: your career saves live on your device, not our servers, and we never ask for your name. The game is funded by advertising — ads involve cookies and similar technologies from our advertising partner, and we will always ask for your consent before any non-essential cookies are set. Notifications and the newsletter are strictly opt-in. You can change your choices at any time.

Who we are

This game is operated by [YOUR NAME / COMPANY NAME] ("we"), the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. Contact: [CONTACT EMAIL].

Advertising

We show advertising provided by Google AdSense to keep the game free. When you first visit, a consent banner asks whether you agree to the use of cookies and similar technologies for advertising:

Lawful basis: consent (UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(a) and PECR Reg. 6) for personalised advertising. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the game footer, and manage Google ad personalisation at adssettings.google.com.

Cookies and similar technologies

TypePurposeConsent needed?
Local storage (game saves & settings)Stores your careers and preferences on your device so the game works. Never transmitted to us.No — strictly necessary for the service you've requested.
Consent recordRemembers your cookie choice so we don't ask every visit. No — strictly necessary.
Advertising cookies (Google)Ad delivery, personalisation (only with consent), measurement, fraud prevention.Yes — set only after you choose via the banner.

We do not use our own analytics or tracking scripts.

Accounts and cloud saves (optional)

You can play entirely without an account. If you create one (to sync careers across devices and join leaderboards) we store: your chosen username, your email address, a securely hashed password (we cannot read it), hashed session tokens, your save data and your Legacy score. Lawful basis: performance of a contract (UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)) — this data is what makes the account service work. Your email is used only for signing in and password recovery plus essential service messages; it is never used for marketing unless you separately join the newsletter, and it is never shown publicly.

Leaderboards are public: your username, Legacy score, seasons played, best division and trophy count are visible to other players on global and friend leaderboards — so choose a username you're happy to display. You can delete your account at any time from inside the game (Saves → Delete account), which immediately and permanently removes your account, email, saves, scores and league memberships from our servers.

Push notifications (optional)

If you enable notifications, your browser creates a push subscription (a technical delivery address issued by your browser vendor — not your name, email or location) which we store to send occasional game reminders — typically only when you haven't played for a day or two. To make that possible we also store a "last played" timestamp against the subscription (no other activity data). Lawful basis: consent. Disable notifications in the game or your device settings at any time; the subscription is then deleted or becomes permanently unusable.

Newsletter (optional)

If you join the newsletter we store your email address, the time of consent, and confirmation/unsubscribe tokens — nothing else. We use confirmed (double) opt-in: nothing is sent until you click the confirmation link we email you. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing deletes your address entirely. We never share or sell the list.

In-game purchases (when available)

If we offer purchases, payment is handled by a payment provider (such as Stripe or an app store) acting as described in their own privacy policy; we do not see or store your card details. We will update this policy before purchases launch.

How long we keep things

Push subscriptions: until disabled or invalid. Newsletter addresses: until you unsubscribe (immediate deletion) or two years of inactivity. Unconfirmed signups: deleted after 30 days. Advertising cookie lifetimes are set by Google and listed in Google's cookie policy.

International transfers

Our advertising partner may process data outside the UK. Such transfers rely on safeguards recognised under UK law, including the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and the ICO's International Data Transfer Agreement/Addendum, as applicable.

Your rights

Under the UK GDPR you may access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your personal data, request portability, and withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior processing. Contact [CONTACT EMAIL]. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk or 0303 123 1113.

Children

The game is suitable for a general audience. We request non-personalised ads where required, and the newsletter and notifications are intended for users aged 13 or over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from younger children.

Changes

If we add features that change what data is processed, we will update this policy before they launch and, where required, ask for your consent again.
